Our Story

Julia, Dennis and Holly Violette are owners of Paint Box Flower Farm located alongside the scenic Penobscot River in Orrington, Maine. The parents, Dennis and Holly, are both retired but as farmers know there is no such thing as retirement. Daughter Julia’s passion for flowers started with the planting of 300 peonies (72 varieties) for landscaping. From there the vegetable gardens soon became flower gardens. Julia specializes in day to day floriculture and planning varieties to grow. Our commitment is to growing sustainable high quality local cut flowers.

Paint Box Flower Farms provides bouquets, arrangements and vases “to go”. We grow annuals, perennials, spring bulbs and are constantly striving to add unique varieties. Fresh flowers have a constant ability to bring beauty, joy, memories and contentment to our lives. They speak softly to us while never expecting anything in return. 2019 was a year for expansion with the addition of a hoop house. This has allowed us to extend our growing seasons for your flower enjoyment. 2021 is looking to be a growth year for the business. Stay tuned for new additions. We plan to do pop up sales at the farm this year in addition to our cart and selling at stores.

Although we would like to have the public view the gardens, it is not possible at this time. We appreciate your consideration to our privacy as the farm is also a private residence.
